Magic is not a feature
Every AI startup wants its product to feel like magic. Users want something else. They want to know why an answer appeared and what to do when it is wrong.
Show your work
Citations, confidence hints and a visible history make output feel earned. A small “based on these 3 documents” line does more for trust than any animation.
Design the failure state first
What happens when the model is unsure? A good interface says so plainly and offers a next step instead of a confident guess.
Keep the human holding the pen
Suggestions should be easy to accept, edit or ignore. The moment AI takes an action without a clear undo, trust drops and rarely comes back.
